Iron Pillow In Stand-Up – The Foundation of Armpit Connection Vs Guillotines & Headlocks @Burybjj

I’ve realised the iron pillow is basically like a having a shot gun when it comes to dealing with people grabbing your head with either headlocks or guillotines. You don’t need to think too much about how they are gripping your head, you just attempt to place your front crawling arm as close to your ear as you possibly can. Ideally your bicep touches your ear, but even if you miss, your arm can come over their shoulder on the near side. Miss that and go on the far side of their head. Even if you miss the ideal step 1, step 2, is pretty good as is step 3. The weakest is actually what’s commonly shown by many of the Gracie’s as THE Guillotine defence. That’s actually incredibly late down the path to getting finished once you realise the power of the iron pillow. A common key with defending head or head and arm positions is getting your armpit over their shoulder line.I’ve realised the iron pillow is basically like a having a shot guy when it comes to dealing with people grabbing your head with either headlocks or guillotines.
