Clinchin’ 2 The All New Electric Boogaloo Seminar – Overhook to Double Underhooks

Clinchin’ 2 The All New Electric Boogaloo – Overhook To Double Underhook Transition

Paul Sharp showing the transition from Over Under to Double Under with the chop, reaching to the pocket.  It is ok to hug. the arm as long as you setting up the backstep, else get to the underhook.

At the office or pretending to be doing something else? Transcript below:

all right next thing we’re going to do

is we’re going to go all the way in now

so we’ve worked from the wrist work from

the upper arm now we’re going to work

from over under where we’re both in here

all right so the first thing I want you

to do is I see a lot of people do and

it’s not necessarily wrong if you’re

setting up you know a back step is to

pull on the overhook or the under hook

rather pull on the underhook arm it’s

not necessarily wrong as long as you’re

doing something with it but don’t just

hang out here

hugging this arm to you okay what I

actually want to do is if I can I want

because he’s breaking my under hook down

on this side I want to chop in on this

arm okay so same thing again make a

little space chop you get under it okay

so you’re going to start out from over

under you’re going to start out from

your grip position so I’m going to be in

here we’ll start out here and I’m just

going to work on making space and chop

it under all right make a little space

chop under get the double under hooks

because I can’t do a whole lot from here

this is what we’re seeing a lot now

that’s because guys are getting here and

they’re just hugging them into each

other they’re grabbing that grabbing an

underhook arm and they’re just pulling

in that’s fine if you’re going to set up

a back step

you know especially like the guys

throwing knees off the other leg he

throws the knee up that leg sets up a

nice throw here

okay sets up a nice throw as soon as the

other leg comes up in here you just you

step through you just turn and back step

and just kind of break that leg all

right but for now what we’re going to

work on today

when the uh when this arm’s in here

we’ll start right here all I want you to

do as soon as this guy gets his arm in

here if you’re feeling trying to tighten

up you just start chopping in and

getting underneath of it okay again man

basic

simple drill but it’s key and like Adam

says I don’t teach these guys to reach

for the pocket That’s essential to

making this work

all right because if I reach straight I

try to drive straight he’s just going to

pinch his arm and pinch his arm in I’m

never gonna get that I drive down and

under I’m going to get in every time I’m

taking a chance but it’s calculated risk

all right well I’ll show you what

happens with that chance when when you

run into the guy that chops and drives

down on you nice little move you can do

with it all right let’s go
